Nelahozeves Castle & A. Dvorak
During this excursion we will drive to the village of Nelahozeves where the beautiful Renaissance palace, the Nelahozeves castle is located. The castle was originally built in 1553 and has been in the possession of the Lobkowicz family since 1623. The exterior Renaissance facades are almost completely preserved, as are some of the interiors. The contents of the castle are rich and of the highest quality. Most of them come from the castle of Roudnice, the main residence of this influential family, whose last owner is Martin Lobkowicz and who resides in the USA.
The famous main picture collection, has been moved to the Lobkowitz Palace at the Prague Castle, therefore, should your interest be this this collection, we will be happy to include it in your Prague Castle Tour.
This castle is a perfect representation of how very rich nobility lived in the former times. It has been lovingly restored by the Lobkowicz family and their treasures are on display here. The surrounding offers a wonderful, tranquil setting ... a perfect antidote to the sometimes hectic pace of life in Prague.
If possible (due to the museums changing opening times), you will visit the birthhouse of Antonin Dvorak, the Czech composer that was born in Nelahozeves on September 8, 1841. Please note, this museum has irregular hours. Should you want to make sure that this visit is possible, please inquire before booking. Thank you.
