Prague Sightseeing - ALL DAY

Kampa Island

Prague City Tour – full day

First we take you up to the Prague Castle area by public transportation or the transport of your choice. We will walk through this “Hradčany” district visiting the Loreta, the baroque church with the Casa Santa, Strahov Library, walk past the Archbishops Palace and other interesting areas along the way to the castle. This area was first settled in the 9th century and was the home of our kings and queens for many years. Now it houses the office of the president of the Czech Republic, several museums, and more. We will go inside the St. Vitus Cathedral, view the resting places of our St. Wenceslas and St. Nepomuk and admire the beauty of this grandiose cathedral. Then we go inside the Royal Palace where the, for its time unusually large, Wladislav Hall is located. It is 62 m long (186 feet), 16 m wide (48 feet) and 13 m high (39 feet) without any center support! Among other festive purposes, it is the inauguration hall of our presidents today. After visiting more of the rooms we leave the palace and walk past the first church here built by Bořivoj in 882,  and down to the Little Quarter. We then visit the Infant Jesus of Prague in the church of Our Lady the Victorious. Then we will stop for lunch. Your guide will be happy to make suggestions. After lunch, we walk across the Charles Bridge, built in 1357 with the help of raw eggs, really. Eggs were used to strengthen the construction. Then continue via "Karlova", or Charles Street to Old Town Square, view the Astronomical Clock, the statue of our reformer Jan Hus, burned at the stake for his beliefs in 1415, then onto the plush Paris Street and into Josefov, the Jewish Quarter. There we will explain the history and point out all the Jewish sites such as the Old New Synagogue, the Jewish Cemetery and more.
