Vienna - Overview

As you know, Vienna is one of the most popular and beautiful cities of Europe.  During the reign of the Hapsburg Empire, about 1400 to 1918, the city was the royal seat of the emperos.  The city is full of beautiful architecture, culture, great food and elegance.  It is one of the seats of the UN, has the famous Prater– one of the first Ferris Wheels in the world, is the home to many famous musicians such as Mozart and Strauss as well as the seat of elegance, rivaled only by Paris, if at that.

It is possible to do a day trip from Prague.  It is a 4 hour ride from Prague in each direction but the drive is very comfortable and you get to see great natural scenery along the way.

Vienna as a day trip from Prague:

Your professional, English speaking guide and car with driver will meet you at your Prague hotel at 6:30 am.  Your drive to Vienna takes about 4 hours and convenience stops will be made as needed.  There you will have a lunch (not included but your guide will be happy to help with the selection) and after lunch, you will embark on your inner city walking tour visiting St. Stevens Cathedral, walk on the famous plush Kaertnerstrasse, see the Opera House, the Albertinum, view the City Hall, Museum of Art, Palace of Justice, the Votive Church and more.  Visit the interesting Hundertwasser Village.  After this, you will have time on your own to shop on the Mariahilfestrasse, where the Viennese shop, visit a Museum or the Hofburg or go out to the Prater area to view the city from the giant Ferris Wheel with your guide and driver.  The exact program is up to you.  Just discuss it with your guide.  Return to Prague in the late evening.  Spend about 5-6 hours in Vienna.
