Museums and galleries of Prague

The following are some of the Galleries and Museums that Prague has to offer.  Please note tha times and prices may change.  Some places have a website, some don't.  Please call ahead or check with your guide or concierge to confirm hours and admission before going.  As a general rule, all museums are closed on Mondays.

Prices are subject to change. Reduced admission usually refers to children aged 6-16, students, Czech senior citizens, members of the army, disabled persons.

Sternberg Palace (Šternberský Palác)

European art from ancient times to the end of Baroque, with emphasis on the 14th-18th centuries.

Lapidarium (Lapidárium)

Czech stone sculptures of the 11th - 19th century. Priceless original sculptures collected from their former locations throughout Prague, including original statues from the Charles Bridge.

The City of Prague Museum (Muzeum hlavního města Prahy)

The history of Prague from prehistoric times to present. Includes Langweil's three-dimensional model of Prague from the first half of the 19th century, made from paper and wood and measuring about 20 square meters.

National Technical Museum (Národní technické muzeum)

Eight permanent expositions including time-measuring techniques, transportation (trains, historical cars and planes), photography and film, acoustics, astronomy, telecommunications.

(Muzeum městské hromadné dopravy v Praze)

Unique collection of exhibits illustrating the history of public transport in Prague, including over forty historical vehicles and many other exhibits such as models, photographs, and historical documents.

Heydrichiad Museum - National Memorial to the victims of Post-Heydrich Terror in the Orthodox Church of St. Cyril and Methodius

The scene of the fight of the Czechoslovak parachutists who performed a military assignment , the assasination of Rheinhard Heydrich - also knows as the "Butcher of Prague", during the Second World War.  Depiction of post-Heydrich terror.
