Czech beer is certainly world class - many beer drinkers claim that it is the best beer in the world!  Pilsner Urquell, the "real" Budweiser, Staropramen, Velkopopovicky Kozel, Krusovice ... the list goes on and on. To make sure our beer is of superb quality, we keep tasting it and so we are the nation with the most consumption of this "liquid bread" per capita.  Ok, our German and Belgian colleagues often claim the same but what's in a "pul liter" (half a liter).  The numbers differ slightly depending on which publication you read but we have been quoted as consuming about 175 gallons (about 665 liters) per person, per year ... that's every child, granny that does not drink beer - well, mine did - all 10.3 million Czech!  Yes, we do get significant help from you, our welcome tourists.  But - we get higher numbers, our beer industry flourishes and you get excellent beer ... a win-win situation if I ever saw one. :-)
